The final four in eastern bracket of the 3A playoffs are Prairie View, Perry LeCompton, Frontenac, and Holton.
This is Prairie View’s 2nd straight trip to the Sectional round and 4th straight playoff appearance. Coach Kyle Littrell has racked up 30 wins in just 4 short years at PV and is 67-33 overall in his career. Under his direction, Prairie View has made the playoffs every year.
Perry Lecompton has enjoyed success recently, making it all the way to the title game last season. This year is their second straight Sectional game and 5th consecutive playoff trip. Mike Paramore has been the head coach since the 2000 season, racking up 109 wins to 89 losses. 2020 marks the 10th playoff appearance for coach Paramore.
Frontenac has also made it back to back Sectional appearances as well, and 11 straight playoffs. Head coach Mark Smith is 68-28 in 9 years at Frontenac and has never missed the playoffs. They had a state title appearance in 2017.
Holton has made it to the playoffs the past couple of seasons. A rare playoff miss occurred in 2018. Prior to that season, the Wildcats made 20 straight trips and 3 state titles. Head coach Brooks Barta is in his 24th year and has compiled a 234-55 record thus far. Barta-coached Holton squads have only missed the playoffs 3 times since 1995.
This weeks matchups
Prairie View and Perry LeCompton have only met once, that was last season. The Kaws came out on top and finished as state runner-up. Thad Metcalfe, Hayden Robb, Dawson Williams, Otis Jacobs, Bodi Isenhower, and Colton McCammon include some of the players to watch.
Holton and Frontenac last met in 2017, with Frontenac being the victor and also finishing as state runner-up. They have also met in 2016 and 2015 with Holton winning both games. Konnor Tannahill, Canon Karn, Landon Dean, Cruz Blair, and Colin McCartney lead the list of impressive players in this match up.
