The Flinthills Mustangs lost their opening football game of the season to the Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans 44-8.  The Mustangs were beat out of the gate when the Spartans scored to take an early 6-0 lead.  The Mustangs scored on a Hunter Lowmaster pass to Tucker Travnichek to tie the game.  The Lowmaster to Johnathan McCreight catch and receive for the extra point allowed the Mustangs to take the lead.  The Spartans came back and scored before half to make it 14-8 at intermission.  The Mustangs recovered the on-side kick to start the 2nd half, but turned it back over to the Spartans.

In the second half, penalties and turnovers plagued the Mustangs and allowed the Spartans to increase their lead on the way to a victory.  The Mustangs were led on offense by Gavin Girty who rushed for 48 yards on 9 carries.  Johnathan McCreight had 7 tackles defensively for the Mustangs.
