KSHSAA Executive Board voted unanimously on Monday afternoon to approve an alternative fall schedule for schools who cancel fall activities by a certain date.
The vote will now be sent to a vote for 78 member board of directors on Friday 8/28/20 at 3PM.
Under the proposal, the alternative schedule for schools and classifications that cancel fall sports by a certain date in September will follow this timeline:
Schools that have canceled their fall sports and activities by a certain date would be eligible to continue those sports and activities in the fall.
In her COVID-19 update to the state, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly strongly suggested Kansas schools to make changes to the sports calendar.
“It would probably be a good idea to consider reversing the sports and move spring sports to the fall.”

Also in the meeting KSHSAA clarified that they do not recognize COVID-19 as a “hardship” due to it affecting everyone universally.
Under this should a student-athlete transfer to another school due citing COVID-19 as a hardship, that student-athlete would still lose that eligibility.
