EUDORA — Despite holding the lead on two occasions in the first half, Fort Scott fell to host Eudora, 21-12, in the final game of the regular season here Friday night.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-7 on the season going into the Class 4A playoffs. They were tied with Ottawa for 14th in Class 4A East but won the tie-breaker on points. Fort Scott will travel to Chanute on Friday, Nov. 1 for a first-round playoff game with the third-seeded Blue Comets (7-1).

Playing without starting quarterback Brody Bowles due to injury, the Tigers relied on their rushing game, which gave them the lead just over three minutes into the contest as Connor Fess score from 78 yards out. The extra point was unsuccessful.

Eudora (3-5) took the lead in the second quarter when Octavious Lyles scored on an 8-yard run. A successful extra point put the Cardinals up by a point.

Nick Emerson’s 38-yard interception return put Fort Scott ahead again, 12-7, with 45 seconds remaining in the half. Again, the conversion failed.

Zeke Reazin scored on a one-yard run with 3:19 left in the third to put Eudora ahead for good, 14-12. He threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Sloan Hayden with exactly a minute to go in the period.

Eudora finished with 336 yards of total offense, which included 215 rushing yards. Fort Scott finished with 235 total yards, 207 of which came on the ground.

Reazin completed 5 of 14 passes for 99 yards but had two intercepted. Reazin also led Cardinal rushers with 81 yards on 14 carries while Lyles had 63 on 18 totes.

Fess gained 101 yards on 8 rushes for the Tigers while Andrew Reed added 74 yards on 12 carries.
