MORAN – Jace Wilson powered the Oswego Indian offense with 3 passing and 1 receiving touchdowns in a 50-0 shut out win over Three Rivers League rival Marmaton Valley on Friday night. The game was called in the 3rd quarter after Lance Teal threw a 16-yard pass to Wilson to enact the 45-point mercy rule.

The lone 1st quarter score came at the 8:10 mark with Wilson took a Wildcat punt back 57 yards into the endzone. Isaac Elliot would scamper into the endzone for the conversion to put the Indians up 8-0.

Oswego began to wear out Marmaton Valley in the 2nd quarter. Wilson broke off a 73-yard touchdown run, mixed with an Elliot 2 point conversion again for a 16-0 lead.

The Indians would find their groove as they scored twice in two drives lasting four minutes. This time it was Elliot doing the scoring as he powered in the endzone on a 1 and 2 yard run on two separate drives. Wilson got the running duties for the 2 point conversion on Elliot’s first touchdown and would pass to Lance Teal on the second score to put the Indians up 30-0.

The final score before the half would come from Teal to Wilson on a 12-yard touchdown pass, but the 2 point conversion would fail to give Oswego a 38-0 halftime score.

Wilson would be involved in the final two scores of the game in the 3rd quarter to enact the 45-point mercy rule. Wilson scored at the 9:51 mark, but Oswego failed to convert the 2 point play to go up 44-0. Wilson threw to Teal on a 16-yard pass to put the Wildcats away with a 50-0 final score. With the 45 point lead, no extra point attempt was needed.

Oswego was 5-5 with 93 yards, but it was their ground game of 239 yards on 24 attempts as a team that wore out Maramton Valley.

The Indian defense held Marmaton Valley to 69 total yards offensively while keeping them out of the endzone.

Oswego (2-0, 2-0) has outscored their opponents 114-16 and will travel to Altoona-Midway (0-2, 0-2) as the final tune-up game before district play begins. Marmaton Valley (0-2, 0-1) will face off against Sedan (2-0, 1-0) who shut out Oxford 48-0 on Friday night.
